2024 Year End Recap

Our first year has been a very busy 2024 for BearNetAI!

I started the year with the launch of BearNetAI. This educational outreach organization seeks to simplify artificial intelligence and empower the average, everyday person to navigate our AI-driven world with confidence, curiosity, and a minimum of overwhelming technical jargon.

The BearNetAI BLOG was created (https://bearnetai.com/) to offer quick, bite-sized insights into AI topics, taking no more than four to six minutes to read. The idea is to respect people’s time and make complex AI subject matter quick, easy, and accessible. BearNetAI also established a presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Mastodon, and X.

In addition to the regular BLOG posts, some exciting new features were introduced:

Bytes to Insights Weekly Digest: A concise roundup of the latest AI news, trends, and ethical considerations, providing key developments in an easily digestible format.
BearNetAI Book Reviews: Navigating the rapid pace of AI innovation can feel like drinking from a fire hose! I occasionally share book reviews to spotlight the best resources in my ever-growing library.
Q&A Deep Dives: Your questions fuel our exploration! The Q&A Deep Dives dive into the topics you’re most curious about, revealing the vast potential of AI.

The BearNetAI Insights Podcast (https://bearnetai.live/) was launched to make AI more accessible. Additionally, each BLOG post contains a link to its associated podcast for those who prefer to listen to the posts rather than read them. The podcast is available on Buzzsprout, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Podcast Index, Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Pocket Casts, Deezer, Player FM, and numerous RSS feeds.

I am proud to announce that BearNetAI has become a member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and a signatory to the Asilomar AI Principles, which are dedicated to AI’s responsible and ethical development.

BearNetAI established four critically important Position Statements that serve as the organization’s guiding principles:

- Mission Statement

- Values

- Position on Artificial Intelligence

- Position on Autonomous Weapons

I published my first book, “Short Essays on Artificial Intelligence: Understanding AI’s Role in a Rapidly Changing World.”

My second book, “Defensive AI: Safeguarding Humanity from Malicious and Uncontrolled AI,” was anticipated to be released in January of 2025, but it was published with four days to spare in 2024!

New logos were designed, one of which is at the masthead of this post.

And what would a year-end recap be without some numbers for 2024 😊 :

16,687 — The number of people reached.

89 — The number of BLOG posts created

52 — The number of weekly news digests created

58 — The number of podcast episodes produced

32,920,538 — Number of words written in the first year (That’s a lot of words!)

So, what’s ahead for 2025?

1 — The BLOG and Podcasts will undoubtedly continue.

2 — I plan to release four more books. The outline for the next one is in progress.

3 — BearNetAI will form a Collective focusing on five key areas:

Thought Leadership and Credibility
Deepening of Community Engagement and Networking
Expansion of Mission Impact
Research and Innovation
Strategic Growth

By creating this think tank, BearNetAI will work to solidify its role as a bridge between the complexities of AI technology and its societal implications, ensuring it remains at the forefront of AI discourse while broadening its impact and influence.

Well, that pretty much wraps up the year.
